Established as a township in 1858 and incorporated as a city in 1972, Rosemount is a growing community of about 25,000 residents in the South Metro of the Twin Cities. Proud of its Irish heritage, the local high school athletics teams are fittingly known as the Irish and there is a shamrock as a prominent part of the city’s logo.
Rosemount is home to the Pine Bend Refinery, owned by Flint Hills Resources. The refinery, which provides jet fuel directly to the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport via pipeline, is a major employer in the area.
Many residents of Rosemount take advantage of the city’s proximity to jobs, as the community is located alongside Highway 52, a main arterial leading to downtown St. Paul, and connected to Highway 55, which leads to downtown Minneapolis. Rosemount is also home to Dakota County Technical College, a renowned institution known for its variety of courses for younger students and individuals going for second careers.
